Bentley Bentayga Artenara Edition pays tribute to the mountains

Bentley marks ten years of the Bentayga with a new special edition called Artenara Edition, a model that returns to the roots of the SUV’s name. To an ordinary buyer it might look like another opportunity to pay more for leather and wood. Bentley prefers to describe it as a refined expression of modern luxury.

The name comes from Artenara, the highest village on the island of Gran Canaria. It sits near the volcanic rock formation Roque Bentayga, the landmark that originally inspired the name of Bentley’s luxury SUV.

Mulliner craftsmanship and mountain inspired details

The Artenara Edition gathers together design elements previously reserved for the most exclusive Mulliner versions of the Bentayga. Engineers and designers in Crewe clearly decided that, for this edition, practicality should step aside in favour of pure visual theatre.

At the front sits a double diamond pattern grille. It is paired with 22 inch wheels finished in grey with polished highlights. For buyers who prefer a more imposing stance, Bentley also offers 23 inch wheels, though only on the three flagship versions of the model.

Inside the cabin the Roque Bentayga silhouette becomes the central theme. The shape appears engraved across the dashboard and laser perforated into the seats and door panels.

Three different leather colours create a layered interior design that previously required a bespoke order. Even the welcome sequence plays along. When the doors open, an animated Artenara projection appears on the ground while illuminated door sills display the edition’s logo.

Engine choices remain familiar

Technically the Artenara Edition introduces no revolution. Instead Bentley offers a controlled choice between traditional performance and a more efficient hybrid option.

The 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo produces 550 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Despite weighing well over two tonnes, the Bentayga reaches 100 km/h in around 4.5 seconds and continues to a top speed of 290 km/h. It remains, at heart, a high speed grand tourer disguised as an SUV.

The 3.0 litre V6 hybrid offers a combined output of 462 horsepower. Acceleration slows to 5.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, but the system allows quiet, emission free driving in urban environments.

The long wheelbase Bentayga EWB version is available only with the V8 engine, reinforcing the idea that rear seat passengers should travel with maximum authority.

A luxury statement rather than a practical one

Prices for the 2026 Bentayga start around €300,000 in many markets, and the Artenara Edition raises that figure even further.

This is not a car designed to shout about its luxury. Instead it appeals to buyers who prefer subtle exclusivity expressed through small design details.

In reality the laser perforated mountain silhouette on the seats will probably offer owners more emotional value than any real climb through the mountains of Gran Canaria. Still, in the world of modern luxury SUVs, symbolism often matters as much as performance.
