Dacia Bigster: Making the Starry Sky Accessible. From SUV to Camper

A few years ago, Dacia proved that an adventurous lifestyle doesn't have to be the exclusive domain of millionaires when it introduced clever camping gear for the Duster. Now, the brand’s flagship, the Bigster, has followed suit. The Romanian brand, known for its pragmatic philosophy, offers a way to transform its largest SUV into a "camper on wheels" for admiring the night sky. This is not a complex or expensive conversion, but the smart "InNature" accessory range designed for those who value freedom without abandoning Dacia’s accessible pricing.

At the heart of the setup is the modular wooden "Sleep Pack" box, which fits perfectly into the Bigster’s trunk. In less than two minutes, it unfolds into a double bed (190 cm long and up to 130 cm wide), providing a sleeping area right in the heart of nature. Dacia’s engineers paid close attention to detail, leaving storage space beneath the bed for luggage and camping gear, ensuring the car remains practical even when the camp is set up. To complete the experience, Dacia offers a specialized tailgate tent that attaches to the rear to create a spacious living area, along with blackout blinds for total privacy.

The Bigster itself serves as an ideal platform for such adventures, offering some of the best interior volume in its class and driving dynamics that aren't afraid of light off-roading. The camping package was designed to require no structural changes to the vehicle, making it easily removable once the weekend ends and the work week begins. This is Dacia’s answer to the growing "van-life" trend, offering a more affordable and flexible alternative to expensive dedicated campers without sacrificing the brand’s hallmark durability.

While the Bigster is Dacia’s most premium model to date—with starting prices in Estonia around €23,490—the camping accessories remain reasonably priced. The "Sleep Pack" typically costs approximately €2,360, with the additional tailgate tent priced at around €380. The Romanian manufacturer has found a golden middle ground where simplicity meets romance, allowing travelers to sleep in a "thousand-star hotel" without draining their bank accounts. The first InNature-equipped Bigsters are expected to hit European roads and forest trails throughout 2026, giving new meaning to the concept of an affordable holiday.
