Two teenagers killed in high-speed crash

A fatal motorcycle crash in Sri Lanka’s Bolawalana area, on the Negombo-Minuwangoda road, claimed the lives of two teenagers and was followed by unrest involving an angry crowd.
The two young men, aged 18 and 19, were travelling at high speed in the dark when a lorry trailer reversing onto the road appeared in front of them. They were unable to stop in time, and both died at the scene following the collision.
The deaths triggered anger among local residents. A crowd that gathered at the scene attacked the lorry driver and set the vehicle on fire in the middle of the road.
Police initially arrested the lorry driver involved in the crash. After investigating the incident and reviewing video footage, officers also detained three local men accused of setting the lorry alight, disturbing public order and obstructing police work.
