Land Rover pushed Kia into oncoming traffic
According to investigators’ current account, the Land Rover driven by the 21-year-old man was speeding when it struck the rear of a Kia Soul travelling in the same direction. The impact pushed the Kia into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a Lada Vesta.
The Kia’s 42-year-old female driver and her 39-year-old passenger died at the scene. The Land Rover driver and the 44-year-old Lada driver were taken to hospital with injuries.
Investigators charged the Land Rover driver with violating traffic rules while under the influence, resulting in the deaths of two people. A court remanded him in custody.
Police are still seeking witnesses to the crash and people whose recordings could help reconstruct the exact sequence of the collision.
