Estonian police officers caught 12-year-old child driving a car

The police are primarily checking for speeding drivers this week, but not only. For example, Tartu patrol police officers, Beatrice and Urmas, stopped a Toyota Corolla in Nõo village yesterday evening and discovered a 12-year-old boy behind the wheel.

The police officers removed the boy from traffic and, as it turned out in the conversation with him, he had secretly taken the car keys from his mother and gone for a ride. Beatrice and Urmas explained to the young driver-to-be that driving without a license is dangerous both for him and for other road users and that there could be sad consequences. After that, the police officers called the boy’s mother to the scene and handed over the boy and the vehicle to her with some advice.

👉 We remind young rally enthusiasts and their parents that the place for underage drivers is not behind the wheel or in traffic. However, at a certain age, this opportunity arises – a limited driving license allows you to drive a category B motor vehicle from the age of 16, but you must pass a traffic theory and driving exam. In this case, there must be an adult, sober, and at least two years of driving experience sitting in the passenger seat.

In total, 60 oral warnings were given to drivers and 39 proceedings were initiated yesterday as part of the traffic campaign. The traffic campaign, which started on Monday, will continue throughout Estonia until Sunday.
