The Traffic Police has reported that on Tuesday evening, a moped rider in Tallinn drew attention to himself with his traffic behavior. When a patrol wanted to discuss safe driving with him, the moped rider thought that the best solution was to flee.
Initially, the differences in vehicles and roadwork in the area gave the moped rider an advantage, but in the end, hiding the moped and swapping it for a lighter vehicle didn’t save him.
Upon inspection, the reason for this hide-and-seek game became clear. The 35-year-old rider had previously made acquaintance with alcohol, and as this wasn’t the first time committing such an offense, he hoped that this would help evade responsibility.
According to the decision of the Harju County Court, the rider was sentenced to partial imprisonment, meaning they have to spend at least 4 days at a time contemplating their actions in the Detention Center. This will continue until the sum of sunrise calculations adds up to 25 days.
Alcohol and driving a vehicle do not go well together. Trying to evade responsibility doesn’t solve the problem. Traffic rules are in place to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
