The police caught the thugs who set two cars on fire
The police received a report this morning about two Bolt Drive rental cars, Audi A3 and Škoda Fabia, which were burned in the Rocca al Mare shopping center parking lot at around 6:40. Firefighters were called to extinguish the fire.
Karl Kalda, the field supervisor of the Western Harju Police Station, said that the police patrol that also responded to the scene started gathering information about the fire and suspected that someone may have intentionally set the cars on fire.
Today at noon, the police detained two men who are suspected of arson.
“Through the collaboration of various institutions and the examination of security camera recordings, based on initial evidence, we were able to determine the men’s movements. Just a few hours later, around 12 o’clock noon, we apprehended a 25-year-old and a 32-year-old man in a accommodation in Tallinn. Their movements and actions in the parking lot were captured on the security camera footage, and we quickly caught the suspects ‘red-handed’,” Kalda said. The police arrested the men and took them to a detention center.
According to Kalda, the information collected so far indicates that the men entered the cars and set the fire inside, resulting in significant damage to the interior of the vehicles. “The motive for their behavior will be determined in the criminal proceedings,” Kalda added.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated under the Penal Code for violation and destruction of property.
