Euro NCAP has concluded its busiest testing year to date with a final round of results that highlights a widening gap between premium safety engineering and standard entry-level offerings. The Mercedes-Benz CLA emerged as the standout performer, earning a definitive five-star rating and reinforcing the brand's reputation for uncompromising occupant protection.

The new CLA, available in both petrol and electric variants, demonstrated a robust performance across all four assessment categories. Its commitment to safety was particularly evident in its occupant protection scores:

Adult Occupant Protection: 94%

Child Occupant Protection: 89%

Beyond structural integrity, the CLA was praised for its "dooring" prevention technology, which prevents occupants from opening doors into the path of approaching cyclists, and its intelligent child-seat sensing systems that automatically manage airbag deployment.

Five-Star Achievements Across the Board
Several other manufacturers met Euro NCAP’s rigorous five-star criteria in this final 2025 session:

MAZDA CX-5: Distinguished itself with a high 93% score for Vulnerable Road User protection, matching the Mercedes-Benz in its ability to mitigate injuries to pedestrians and cyclists.

Deepal S05: The electric SUV achieved an impressive 94% for Adult Occupant protection. However, Euro NCAP noted concerns regarding the ability to permanently disable driver distraction alerts.

Porsche Cayenne & VW T-Roc: Both models delivered consistent results, securing 91% in Adult Occupant protection.

Hyundai NEXO: This hydrogen-powered SUV proved that alternative fuel sources do not compromise safety, matching the performance of conventional top-tier SUVs.

The Impact of Optional Safety Packs
A significant finding in this round was the performance of the Kia EV4. In its standard configuration, the vehicle earned four stars. However, when equipped with the optional DriveWise ADAS Safety Pack—which adds advanced radar sensors—it successfully elevated its rating to five stars. This discrepancy serves as a vital reminder for consumers to scrutinize optional safety equipment when purchasing.
