Tesla brings Cybercab to Paris as Robotaxi app opens to international users
1/22
Tesla will display its Cybercab in Europe at the Paris Motor Show, which opens next week. The two-seat robotaxi has no steering wheel or pedals. Meanwhile, the Robotaxi app has become available to download in many countries outside the US, but the service itself is not yet expanding to Europe.
Cybercab comes to Paris
The Paris Motor Show organiser confirmed that Tesla will display the Cybercab on its stand alongside the Model 3 and Model Y. Visitors will be able to view the car, but the company will not offer test drives.
The Cybercab seats two people and was designed by Tesla for fully autonomous driving. Instead of a steering wheel and pedals, an FSD-based system controls the car. Tesla currently operates Cybercabs in a limited area of Austin, where they are used for its Robotaxi service.
Robotaxi app goes international
Tesla’s Robotaxi app can now be downloaded in significantly more countries. Users sign in with a Tesla account and, once they reach a service area in the US, can book a ride just like a local customer.
This does not mean the Robotaxi service is launching in Europe. Tesla currently offers it only in limited areas of Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
For Europe, the Cybercab’s appearance in Paris is therefore primarily a technology demonstration. Before launching a driverless taxi service, Tesla must obtain local type approval and meet regulatory requirements for autonomous driving.
