New speed cameras to be operational soon

Speed cameras are located at kilometer 205 on the Tallinn-Tartu-Võru-Luhamaa highway, with one measuring speed in the Tartu-Võru direction and the other in the Võru-Tartu direction.

The Road Administration will launch speed cameras at two new locations in Kanepi Parish, Põlva County, on Thursday, November 2nd.

The configuration and calibration work of the cameras has been completed and the traffic management has been adjusted to the new conditions.

There are 67 measurement cabins on Estonian national roads, five of which can measure speed in both directions. The Road Administration has 34 measurement systems available in the cabins, which are periodically repositioned.

Speed cameras help reduce speeding in dangerous traffic areas, which in turn helps reduce the number and severity of traffic accidents. In addition, speed cameras help monitor the behavior of drivers.
