New Year, New Tricks: How a Russian Police Car Almost Turned into a Magician on the M-3 Highway
A time for resolutions, fresh starts, and apparently, if you’re a traffic police car on the M-3 highway, a time for daredevil stunts. On January 2nd, at the 225 km mark of the M-3, a police car decided to embrace the ‘New Year, New Me’ mantra quite literally by performing a high-stakes overtaking maneuver. The idea? Overtake by driving into oncoming traffic. Brilliant, right?
Unfortunately, in a shocking turn of events that no one could have predicted (note the sarcasm), the officer misjudged the distance. In a desperate attempt to avoid a head-on collision, they swerved back into their lane at the last second. And for the grand finale, they turned on the siren, probably hoping it would work like a magic wand to fix the situation. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.
The result? A not-so-magical crash involving three vehicles. Now, here’s the kicker: had it not been for a dashboard camera, this could have been a classic case of “blame the other guy.” In this scenario, the Kia Rio driver would have been the perfect scapegoat, accused of “losing control and swerving into the wrong lane.” But alas, the camera doesn’t lie, and it revealed a plot twist worthy of a Hollywood movie: a contactless accident caused by our very own traffic police.
So, hats off to the dashboard camera for keeping things honest. And to the traffic police, maybe stick to the traditional New Year resolutions next year? Just a thought.
