Alpine presents the A110 Pikes Peak

Alpine and Signatech have been grinding hard behind the scenes since they announced they’re entering one of the world’s most iconic hill climbs. They’re getting ready to face the challenge head-on on June 25th, 2023.

The Alpine A110 Pikes Peak is a masterpiece of aerodynamics and engine design, specifically designed to handle the subtleties of the 19.93 km race to the clouds. With Raphaël Linari leading the Alpine design office teams and Lionel Chevalier and François Letort leading the Signatech teams, these guys have worked closely to convert this A110 into a top-notch racing machine.

The splitters and deflectors on the spoiler and the imposing rear wing are among the most impressive features of the car, making sure that the machine generates the necessary downforce in the 156 corners of the course. The side skirts and diffuser of this one-off Alpine A110R are radical, and they have an inlet on the roof that forces air into the engine, resulting in a crazy 500 horsepower. They’ve also managed to cut down the car’s weight to only 950 kilograms.

The Alpine team is pushing the boundaries with their latest creation, fully embracing the concept of extremes and making sure to maintain eligibility for the Time Attack 1 category. To achieve this balance, they’ve added a “Le Mans-style” shark fin on the rear window and made the lights more aggressive with thin laser-cut bars at the front and rear lights shifted into three vertical segments on the side rails and central ridge. The car’s perceived width is reinforced by bespoke wheels and other details.

The unique Alpine A110 will soon take on Pikes Peak with the aim of setting records. After debuting at Lurcy-Lévis on April 25th and 26th, designated driver Raphaël Astier will test the car in its final configuration for the first time next week. Astier, the 2022 FIA R-GT Cup winner with the A110 Rally, will conduct a first session in the Drôme, then at Val Thorens. He’s already participated in the event four times and will work with the team in Colorado Springs to make final preparations for the June 25th challenge.
