McLaren 750S Spectrum Theme: MSO's Innovative Paint Mastery
McLaren Automotive proudly unveils the Spectrum Theme, an awe-inspiring multi-tone paint finish meticulously crafted by the esteemed artisans of McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the brand’s in-house bespoke personalization service. This remarkable innovation finds its exclusive canvas on the new 750S, McLaren’s pinnacle of series-production supercars, representing the epitome of both performance and artistry.
The realization of the Spectrum Theme marked the birth of novel techniques, ushering in a new era of McLaren’s paint craftsmanship. This avant-garde approach echoes the groundbreaking spirit seen in the technical advancements of the 750S. A symphony of distinct color shades orchestrates a seamless transition, achieving a tonal dance that tricks the eye into perceiving shifts from light to dark, even when the 750S stands still, invoking a sensation of motion and velocity.
Spectrum manifests in three captivating variations – Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Grey, and Spectrum Orange – each an embodiment of individuality. These hues harmoniously meld with further MSO bespoke personalization, enabling vibrant leather trims, custom dedication plaques, and elongated visual carbon fiber door sills adorned with hand-painted Spectrum graded effect MSO logos.
The realm of possibilities extends beyond the Blue, Grey, and Orange themes, as Spectrum can be tailored to unique colorways envisioned and executed by MSO. These distinctive shades demand innovative paint formulations, carefully balancing light and dark tones to achieve a harmonious color shift, eschewing a fixed formula in favor of customized blends tailored to each Spectrum Theme.
The Spectrum Theme’s intricate placement posed a challenge for MSO’s meticulous technicians, especially around the dihedral doors with their aerodynamic intricacies. At the rear, a nod to the popular Velocity Theme by MSO graces the Spectrum, transitioning as a gentle Velocity fade wrapping around the 750S. The Blue theme effortlessly shifts from Spectrum Blue to Metallic Aurora Blue, while the Orange variant journeys from Spectrum Orange to the opulent Gamma Red Metallic. Similarly, the Grey interpretation transforms from Spectrum Grey to Metallic Meteorite Grey. Adding a captivating finale, the underside of the Active Rear Wing can be adorned with a contrasting hue, serving as an exquisite finishing touch to the masterpiece that is the 750S.
