TWR: The next generation of the legend

TWR is making a comeback as a bespoke automobile constructor. With the same spirit and drive that made the original Tom Walkinshaw Racing an icon, the new company aims to create exceptional vehicles.

Established in 1975 by Tom Walkinshaw, TWR left an indelible mark on motor racing and performance cars. Their creations became legends in the industry, captivating car enthusiasts for nearly three decades.

TWR’s influence extended beyond the track, as they inspired carmakers to delve into motorsport. Their iconic touring cars, including Rover Vitesse, Holden Commodore, Mazda RX-7, and the cult classic Volvo 850 Estate, became favorites among enthusiasts. Additionally, TWR’s groundbreaking work led to the birth of road car projects like the Aston Martin DB7 and Renault Clio V6.

The collaboration between TWR and Jaguar resulted in remarkable achievements, most notably the infamous XJS. This powerful machine triumphed in the 1984 European Touring Car Championship and the 1985 Bathurst 1000. Moreover, the successful TWR-Jaguar partnership yielded the awe-inspiring Jaguar XJR Group C designs, which went on to conquer Le Mans. This legacy paved the way for the creation of the extraordinary XJ220 and XJR-15, solidifying TWR’s involvement in Jaguar’s production cars.

Now, the renowned TWR name is making a comeback! Led by Tom Walkinshaw’s son, Fergus Walkinshaw, the new generation of TWR has assembled a highly skilled technical team. With a focus on becoming a world-class constructor of bespoke high-performance automobiles, TWR aims to push the boundaries of performance engineering. They also strive to collaborate with leading brands to enhance the potential of their own products.

In a world where electronic systems dominate modern performance cars, TWR stands out by preserving and perfecting the analog driving experience. By combining modern materials, innovative design concepts, and traditional engineering, they aim to create vehicles that strike the perfect balance between performance, style, functionality, and quality.
