Nissan e-POWER Equipped Vehicles Surpass 100,000 Sales in Europe
Since their market launch in September 2022, Nissan’s e-POWER equipped vehicles have surpassed a significant milestone in Europe, with sales exceeding 100,000 units. This achievement is marked by the impressive sales of 65,367 Qashqai and 34,663 X-Trail models, showcasing the growing consumer interest in innovative automotive technologies.
The e-POWER system represents a unique approach in electric vehicle technology. Unlike conventional electric vehicles, the e-POWER system uses a gasoline engine solely to generate electricity, charging the onboard battery that powers an electric motor. This motor is responsible for driving the vehicle’s wheels. The result is a smooth and quiet driving experience, akin to a fully electric vehicle, but without the need for external charging.
Customers have particularly appreciated the quietness and ease of handling offered by the e-POWER system. Feedback indicates that the seamless operation and reduced noise levels significantly enhance the driving experience.
One of the key features of the e-POWER system is its ability to adapt to different driving needs. Under low power demands, and when the battery is sufficiently charged, the electric motor operates solely on battery power. However, during higher power requirements, the gasoline engine generates electricity to power the motor and recharge the battery. In maximum power demand scenarios, the electric motor draws electricity from both the engine and the battery, ensuring optimal performance.
Furthermore, the e-POWER system incorporates regenerative braking, where the energy generated during deceleration is captured and used to recharge the battery. This feature not only improves overall efficiency but also extends the driving range of the vehicle.
