McLaren Unveils the New GTS: A Fusion of Aerodynamic Excellence and Robust Design, Redefining GT Performance
McLaren has introduced its new model, the GTS, which replaces the existing GT model. The GTS boasts an aerodynamic package and profile based on the GT’s lines, but with new visual enhancements that give the model a more robust appearance. The front end updates include a redesigned lower bumper in “hammerhead” style and more prominent, wider air intakes.
The visuals of the GTS feature a large rear diffuser and a dual-part exhaust pipe. As standard, the GTS’s exhaust tip, mirror caps, and window surrounds are finished in glossy black. The GTS is built on the carbon fiber MonoCell II-T monocoque chassis, providing a strong, lightweight, and rigid structure. The standard composite roof is made from recycled carbon fiber.
The GTS is the lightest car in its class, weighing just 1,520 kg, and offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its segment at 418 horsepower per ton. The power of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine has been increased to 635 horsepower, achieved through increased torque from a more aggressive combustion phase and modified ignition timings. The launch control function allows the GTS to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and from 0-200 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Its top speed reaches 326 km/h.
The seven-speed SSG transmission ensures smooth, uninterrupted, and rapid gear changes in Comfort mode. The driver can enhance their supercar experience with two additional driving modes – Sport and Track – through the Active Dynamics panel.
The steering of the car provides unparalleled feedback and precision compared to competitors, especially at low speeds. The GTS is equipped with 390 mm and 380 mm carbon-ceramic brake discs.
The trunk has a capacity of 420 liters, and there is an additional 150-liter storage space in the front of the car. The interior is designed to combine performance with a luxurious and refined space, using high-quality materials and finishes. Standard equipment on the GTS includes Nappa leather upholstered comfort seats, while new Performance and TechLux interior designs offer a sporty and elegant style.
The GTS is equipped with an advanced digital dashboard and a central touchscreen infotainment system, offering a wide range of entertainment and navigation options. Additionally, a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system is available.
