Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection, a limited edition inspired by the rare spectacle of a solar eclipse. Limited to just 25 units, these bespoke vehicles celebrate the captivating interplay of light and darkness, capturing the awe-inspiring moment when the Moon completely obscures the Sun.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost, infused with the Black Badge spirit, provides the perfect canvas for the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective to express the beauty of this cosmic wonder. The launch of this highly customized collection coincides with the annular solar eclipse visible in parts of the Western Hemisphere on October 14.

The exterior of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis features the Lyrical Copper color, incorporating powdered copper pigment for a rich iridescence. Mandarin accents highlight the Pantheon Grille and brake calipers, symbolizing the intense pulses of sunlight during the eclipse. The hand-painted coachline depicts the transition from sunlight to darkness as the Moon covers the Sun.

The Starlight Headliner offers a unique animation, replicating the totality of the solar eclipse with 940 ‘stars’ forming a circle around the lunar silhouette. An additional 192 ‘stars’ recreate the otherworldly spectacle of stars visible during daylight, a phenomenon occurring only during a total solar eclipse. The animation lasts for precisely seven minutes and 31 seconds, the longest possible duration of a total solar eclipse.

The illuminated fascia is adorned with 1,846 laser-etched ‘stars’ representing a symbolic timeline of a total eclipse. A bespoke timepiece with a brilliant-cut 0.5-carat diamond, recalling the ‘Diamond Ring’ effect, is integrated into the clock’s bezel for the first time in Rolls-Royce history.

The Panoramic Sunset Interior captures the golden twilight during the totality of a solar eclipse. Bi-colored seats with a unique perforated artwork, made of over 200,000 individual perforations, create a visual effect with extraordinary depth and subtlety.

Bespoke finishing touches include illuminated treadplates, umbrellas with Mandarin piping concealed in the coach doors, and a unique indoor motor car cover bearing the Private Collection’s wordmark.

All 25 examples of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection have been allocated to clients around the world.
