Škoda gears up to produce the next-generation Kodiaq

As one of the new Škoda models set to make its debut this year, the second-generation Kodiaq is already poised for release. Škoda, continuing its successful SUV production in Kvasiny, has initiated a comprehensive adaptation of the production line. Pilot production vehicles have already begun rolling off the assembly line, with full series production scheduled to commence next year.

Similar to its predecessor, the new Kodiaq will be manufactured at the Kvasiny plant alongside the Karoq, Superb, and Superb iV, utilizing the same production line. In early 2024, the new-generation Superb will begin production in Bratislava, thereby freeing up capacity to produce approximately 150,000 additional units of the popular Kodiaq and Karoq SUVs annually.

Škoda Auto is investing approximately 12 million euros in converting the production line to meet future requirements, including the readiness to produce the Kodiaq iV with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. These investments involve integrating existing technologies such as manipulators, chassis assembly, conveyors, as well as modifying robots for window-glue application. The aim is to achieve a daily production output of up to 410 second-generation Kodiaqs.

This autumn, Škoda Auto will unveil the second generation of its largest SUV, the Kodiaq, with market launch planned for 2024. The model will offer a range of modern and efficient petrol and diesel engines, along with a plug-in hybrid variant and, for the first time, a mild hybrid option. With advancements in safety, technology, and versatility, the car manufacturer is elevating its flagship SUV to a new level.
