Škoda provides first glimpse of the new Superb and Kodiaq generations

Škoda Auto just gave us a sneak peek at their new cars! At their “Let’s Explore” event on April 25, 2023, they showed off some official silhouette images of the new Superb flagship model and Kodiaq SUV. These two cars are gonna be huge for Škoda this year, and they’ll have separate world premieres in the fall. You’ll have a choice of modern, efficient gas and diesel engines, as well as plug-in and mild hybrid options. The new Superb will come in a Hatch and Estate version, with a new exterior, improved tech and a totally redesigned interior. It’ll be made at the Volkswagen Group plant in Slovakia. The new Kodiaq, on the other hand, will be built in the Škoda plant in Czech Republic, and will also have a fresh exterior, improved features, and a new interior design.

Škoda’s Superb and Kodiaq are their top dogs in the Hatch/Estate and SUV game. Fun fact: the name ‘Superb’ actually goes way back to the 1930s, when Škoda had a luxury car with that name. The modern Superb first hit the market in 2001 and sold like hotcakes – almost 137,000 of them between then and 2008. It was the first Škoda to introduce fancy tech like bi-xenon headlights and automatic Tiptronic transmission. The second gen came out in 2008 and offered all-wheel drive, and the Estate version that followed in 2009 was even more popular. In total, over 618,000 of them were sold. The third gen came out in 2015, with more space, better fuel efficiency, and cool new safety features. They updated it again in 2019, adding the Superb iV plug-in hybrid model. They’ve sold over 777,000 of these bad boys so far.

Meanwhile, the Kodiaq hit the scene in 2016, leading Škoda’s SUV charge, and it’s already sold more than 740,000 units. This big boy comes with seven seats and a super cool crystalline design. They even made a sporty version called the Kodiaq vRS in 2018. They updated the whole range in 2021, and this baby has won over 40 international awards. It’s no wonder it’s such a fan favorite!
