Totem Automobili to make UK debut at Salon Privé
Totem Automobili is set to make its highly anticipated debut in the UK at this month’s Salon Privé, where it will unveil its remarkable creations to an exclusive audience.
Drawing inspiration from the timeless Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, the all-new Totem GT is poised to present a fresh perspective on the concept of Gran Turismo at the prestigious Blenheim event, commencing on August 30.
Exquisitely crafted in carbon fibre, the Totem GT represents a contemporary reimagining of the original classic. With a larger, more robust profile and an artful fusion of sleek lines, the Totem GT exudes a commanding presence. Meticulously developed over several years, the design captures a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity.
Attendees at Salon Privé will have the privilege of exploring the meticulously handcrafted interior of the Totem GT, where traditional design harmoniously coexists with contemporary digital elements and intricate detailing. Distinctive features include seats fashioned after the original 1750 Giulia GT buckets, each uniquely molded to the individual customer, as well as custom-built pedals tailored to match the customer’s shoe size.
Founded by accomplished automotive designer Riccardo Quaggio, Totem Automobili is a pioneering Italian company driven by innovation. Following a distinguished career with industry giants Honda and Alfa Romeo, Riccardo established Totem Automobili in 2018 with a steadfast vision of bringing his childhood dream car to life.
Embracing a premium manufacturing approach, Totem Automobili collaborates with a team of expert artisans and professionals, predominantly hailing from Italy. Employing cutting-edge engineering and techniques, the company skillfully transforms classic Italian automobiles into reimagined masterpieces that exude innovation, nostalgia, and undeniable allure.
At the heart of Totem Automobili’s Gran Turismo creations lies the foundation of original Alfa Giulia GT Junior 1300/1600 models, produced between 1970 and 1975. These vintage vehicles undergo a meticulous transformation process, where each original car is disassembled and stripped, retaining only the bulkhead. The Totem carbon fibre monocoque is then seamlessly integrated, seamlessly blending vintage authenticity with modern sophistication.
Available in two distinct versions, the Totem GT lineup caters to diverse preferences. The Totem GT Super boasts an all-new 2.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, celebrated as one of the most compact and lightweight powerplants of its kind. Featuring a dry-sump design and a unique two-stage supercharger, the Stage 1 configuration delivers an exhilarating 600hp, while the Stage 2 variant raises the bar to an astonishing 750hp.
For those seeking a zero-emissions alternative, the Totem GT Electric delivers more than 500hp and accelerates from 0 to 62mph in an astounding 2.9 seconds. Equipped with an 81kWh battery, it offers a range of over 295 miles. Furthermore, the Totem GT Electric provides the thrill of launch control and innovative ‘drift engine braking’, utilizing regenerative braking to initiate drifts.
In a remarkable demonstration of authenticity, the Totem GT Electric delivers an immersive and authentic driving experience, heightened by a comprehensive external sound system comprising 13 handcrafted speakers capable of producing up to 125db. Unveiling gaming-inspired customization, every aspect of the vehicle’s dynamics, from engine characteristics to sound profiles, can be tailored to the driver’s preferences. Totem Automobili pledges to deliver “the same mechanical connection as a traditional sports car”.
