Volkswagen has announced the details of the third generation of its best-selling model, the Tiguan. The Tiguan has been a global best-seller for Volkswagen since its launch in 2007, with over 7.4 million units sold worldwide. The new generation Tiguan will feature the updated modular transverse matrix, MQB evo, which incorporates state-of-the-art technology components. It will offer a new generation of plug-in hybrid drives with improved electric range, advanced active chassis control, premium interior quality, and an intuitive infotainment system.
One of the notable features of the new Tiguan will be the optional IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, which provide advanced lighting technology borrowed from premium-class models. The interior of the Tiguan has been redesigned to meet customer requirements, featuring a new cockpit and infotainment system. The center console will have a large customizable screen for displaying important functions, along with a rotary control for various settings. The interior will also offer high-quality materials, comfortable seats, and effective noise insulation.
The new Tiguan will be exclusively offered with an automated shift gearbox (DSG) and will feature a new gear position switch on the steering column for easy operation. It will also have electronically controlled suspension with the optional DCC Pro system, which includes two-valve shock absorbers and a vehicle dynamics manager for improved handling and performance.
The Tiguan will be available with different drive types, including turbodiesel engines, turbocharged petrol engines, mild hybrid turbocharged petrol engines, and plug-in hybrid systems. The new plug-in hybrid versions will have an increased electric range of up to 100 kilometers and faster charging capabilities.
In terms of practicality, the new Tiguan will have a slightly larger luggage compartment with a capacity of 648 liters, an increase of 33 liters compared to the previous generation.
Overall, the third generation Tiguan promises advanced technology, improved comfort, and enhanced performance while building on the success of its predecessors. The world premiere in autumn 2023 and market launch in 2024 will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Volkswagen’s best-selling model.
