Volkswagen celebrates world premiere of the all-new Tiguan

In a world premiere, Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new Tiguan, marking the arrival of the third generation of this model.

The latest iteration of the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB evo) serves as the technological foundation for the third-generation Tiguan. The MQB evo platform allows Volkswagen to democratize advanced technologies, including features like the DCC Pro adaptive chassis control and new hybrid drivetrains with an electric range of approximately 100 km, making them accessible to a wide range of drivers.

The technological advancements introduced with the MQB evo platform enhance various aspects of the Tiguan. New hybrid powertrains, with an impressive all-electric range, contribute to the SUV’s increased efficiency. The inclusion of faster AC charging in all eHybrid versions and standard fast DC charging further improve the Tiguan’s usability. The SUV boasts a modern Digital Cockpit based on the MIB4 modular infotainment matrix, providing top-tier information and digital services with a user-friendly interface. Additional features like pneumatic front seat massage function and IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, previously seen in the premium Touareg model, elevate the Tiguan’s luxury and functionality.

The Tiguan undergoes a comprehensive design transformation, featuring a powerful front end with flat LED headlights and a glass-covered horizontal strip. The design enhancements contribute to improved aerodynamics, reducing the drag coefficient from 0.33 to 0.28. The SUV’s athletic appearance extends to its wheel housings, accommodating up to 20-inch wheels, and a horizontal LED strip adorns the rear end.

Inside, the Tiguan introduces a new cockpit concept with high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The Digital Cockpit offers digital instruments with an anti-reflective coating, while the infotainment screen measures up to 15 inches and incorporates a new menu structure and graphics. The SUV also includes a new head-up display and a multifunction driving experience switch with an integrated OLED display. The IDA voice assistant allows for natural language interaction with various vehicle and infotainment functions.

The Tiguan’s powertrain options include turbo diesel (TDI), turbo petrol (TSI), mild hybrid turbo petrol (eTSI), and plug-in hybrid systems (eHybrid) available exclusively with the automatic direct-shift gearbox (DSG). The gear selection lever has a straightforward operation, allowing drivers to switch between “D” for forward and “R” for reverse. Paddles behind the steering wheel are also available in all Tiguan models.

The new MQB evo platform enables electronically controlled running gear, enhancing convenience and dynamics. The optional DCC Pro adaptive chassis control features two-valve shock absorbers, and a Vehicle Dynamics Manager ensures precise control of electronic differential locks and lateral dynamics components of the controlled shock absorbers. These enhancements lead to improved stability, agility, and precision during dynamic cornering.

The Tiguan comes equipped with a comprehensive set of standard convenience and assist systems, including Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and Rear View. Additional optional systems, such as Park Assist Pro with remote parking capability and Trailer Assist for assisted trailer maneuvering, further enhance the driving experience.

Despite growing approximately three centimeters in length, the new Tiguan maintains similar height, width, and wheelbase dimensions to its predecessor. The luggage compartment capacity has increased by 37 liters to 652 liters when loaded up to the height of the rear seat backrests, demonstrating efficient use of space.

With its combination of advanced technologies, expressive design, improved aerodynamics, and enhanced interior features, the all-new Tiguan aims to continue the model’s legacy of success in the compact SUV market.
