Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven: progressive interpretation of a 70s icon

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision One-Eleven, a sports car concept that combines a dynamic design with innovative electric powertrain technology. The car draws inspiration from the iconic C 111 experimental vehicles of the 1960s and 70s and features a sleek silhouette with gullwing doors and distinctive orange-and-black paintwork. The Vision One-Eleven showcases the One-Bow design and a copper-orange alubeam paintwork, giving it a sculptural and luxurious appearance. It is powered by an axial-flux electric motor developed by YASA, a British subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz.

The interior of the Vision One-Eleven introduces a lounge concept, offering a combination of a minimalist driving machine and a comfortable space. The seats are integrated into the interior sculpture, and the cabin extends rearwards to provide an airy and relaxed atmosphere. The interior features a progressive color concept and unique material combinations, including white fabric upholstery made from recycled polyester and bright orange leather. The steering wheel incorporates various controls and touch elements, and a pixel display on the dashboard provides bold and retro-futuristic visual information.

The Vision One-Eleven also introduces an augmented reality (AR) user experience, where the driver wears Magic Leap 2 AR glasses to enhance their surroundings with high-definition digital content. The AR UI presents contextual information on the dashboard and in the environment, creating a seamless blend of physical and digital elements. The car’s technology highlights include a new battery concept with liquid-cooled cylindrical cells and advanced axial-flux motors developed by YASA.

To accompany the concept car, Mercedes-Benz has launched a limited-edition lifestyle collection called “LIMITED EDITION 1 OF 111.” The collection features accessories inspired by the design elements of the Vision One-Eleven, such as a weekender bag, sunglasses, sweat hoody, cotton cap, and iPhone cover.
