Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles starts pre-sales of the new Transporter in Germany
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to Launch New Generation Transporter in 2025
In 2025, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will introduce the successors to the current Transporter 6.1 and Caravelle 6.1, marking a significant evolution in the product line. This new generation boasts substantial improvements in all areas. Starting 14 December, pre-sales of the new Transporter begin in Germany, allowing both corporate and private customers to plan ahead.
This next generation comes with a substantially upgraded standard equipment package, including a digital cockpit, central display, and the latest assist systems. Additionally, it features a completely redesigned range of highly efficient drive systems. For the first time, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has developed a product line available with turbodiesel, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains.
The new Transporter showcases distinctive Volkswagen DNA through its clean front and rear design, making it easily recognizable as part of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles range. Standard LED headlights and tail light clusters contribute to its aerodynamic design, ideal for commercial vehicles of this size. Like its predecessors, the new Transporter models can be configured with either a boot lid or wide-opening wing doors.
The extended standard equipment includes new LED headlights and tail light clusters, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold function, a 12-inch Digital Cockpit, infotainment system (DAB+, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, online services, 13-inch touchscreen), multifunction steering wheel, rain sensor, Lane Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking Front Assist, and Dynamic Road Sign Display with wrong-way warning.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will offer the new Transporter in various bodies, including a panel van, panel van Plus, panel van with L-partition, Kombi, long dropside vehicle, and later a Caravelle. Optional high roofs and extended wheelbases are available for Kombi and panel van models. The new Transporter is longer and wider than its predecessor, allowing more cargo space and comfort for passengers.
The new model generation also sees increased load capacity, payload, and maximum trailer weight. The largest stowage volume has grown to 5.8 m3, and the maximum width between the wheel housings has increased significantly. The payload and maximum trailer weight have also been enhanced.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has optimized vehicle properties for different applications by separating commercial from private and recreational vehicles. The New Transporter is now more commercial-like than ever in the B-segment.
In terms of powertrains, the new Transporter will be available with turbodiesel engines at launch, followed by a plug-in hybrid drive and all-electric drives. The TDI engines come in three power variants, while the plug-in hybrid and electric drives offer a range of power options with varying battery sizes. Both TDI and eHybrid models feature front-wheel drive, with an optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive for higher TDI variants. The all-electric models will have rear-wheel drive, with an all-wheel-drive version planned for later.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is set to offer a more diverse and innovative range of drives for the new Transporter than ever before.
Early adopters can enjoy attractive pricing, with the new Transporter starting from 36,780 euros (net) for the 81 kW (110 PS) TDI entry-level engine, if ordered in the first few months.
