The 2027 BMW X3 M50 xDrive gains more power, rising to around 326 kW, and adds a Black Package combining 22-inch black wheels with extensive Alcantara trim. The important distinction: the power increase applies to every X3 M50 xDrive, not just those ordered with the styling package.

More power, with or without the package

According to BMW's US press release, the Black Package and interior updates for the X3 range will arrive in December 2026. The announcement covers the US market and does not confirm European availability for the changes.

The X3 M50 xDrive's 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine uses 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. Output rises from around 293 kW to 326 kW, an increase of about 33 kW. That represents a gain of approximately 11% over the previous version. According to the manufacturer, an upgraded exhaust system gives the engine a deeper, more resonant sound.

Acceleration from rest to 96.6 km/h takes 4.3 seconds. With the rollout method, which excludes the first foot, or 30.48 cm, of movement from the measurement, the figure is 4.0 seconds. Neither figure is a 0–100 km/h time, so they cannot be compared directly with conventional European acceleration figures.

Black Package focuses on trim, not extra power

Available exclusively for the 2027 X3 M50 xDrive, the Black Package brings 22-inch Jet Black 1134M alloy wheels. These increase the largest wheel diameter available for the model by one inch. The M Sport brake callipers have a gloss-black finish and a monochrome M logo, while the exterior M logos and model badges have a silver outline.

Inside, black Alcantara covers part of the driver's side of the dashboard, the surface in front of the central display, the wireless phone charging tray, the door panels and the centre console armrest. Black Alcantara/Veganza seat upholstery is complemented by blue stitching and piping, with embossed M logos on the head restraints adding another distinctive detail.

The package also includes M interior trim with an aluminium-carbon structure, M seat belts, black floor mats with a flag in M colours, and glass detailing on selected controls. The M steering wheel's airbag module receives a leather cover specific to the package, while the Dark Silver door sill trims feature a black M logo. This is a trim package, not a separate power level.

Interior updates extend across the X3 range

From December, all X3 models will receive a PVC Softskin surface in front of the central display and a new stitching pattern on the dashboard. Ambient lighting will be added to the centre console storage compartment and around the interior door handles. The changes also include a new glovebox opening mechanism and stainless-steel edge protectors for the boot loading sill.

In the US, the 2027 X3 M50 xDrive starts at US$67,500, plus a $1,350 destination and handling charge. The Black Package costs $3,800. The source provides no European prices, launch timing or technical specifications for European versions.
