Alfa Romeo has revealed the name of its concept car for the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Cuorerosso, meaning “red heart” in English, is intended to show the direction in which the Italian marque wants to develop the design and driving experience of its future models. Alfa Romeo is still keeping the car’s technical details under wraps.

According to Stellantis’ official press release, the name combines the Italian words cuore, meaning heart, and rosso, meaning red. The manufacturer links red with its sporting history and the heart with the relationship between driver and car. The release contains plenty of marketing language, but almost nothing on specific technology.

Cuorerosso is not merely a preview of another model

Alfa Romeo announced as early as 17 September that the concept car to be shown in Paris embodies the marque’s vision of the future. The manufacturer describes it, in essence, as a manifesto for future Alfa Romeos and highlights three foundations: Italian design and craftsmanship, sportiness, and the colour red.

That makes Cuorerosso a considerably more interesting car than simply a striking motor-show exhibit. Alfa Romeo has not yet confirmed whether the concept car directly previews any particular production model. Nor has it disclosed the powertrain, output, dimensions or chassis specifications. It would therefore be premature to describe it as the forerunner to the next Giulia, Stelvio or an entirely new model, for example.

Alfa Romeo is also keeping the body style secret for now. The official material released so far deliberately discusses the brand’s broader future rather than the continuation of any one existing model line.

Battito Rosso proved a false lead

Before the official name was revealed, Britain’s Auto Express suggested Battito Rosso, roughly translated as “red heartbeat”, as one possible name. The speculation was fuelled by Alfa Romeo’s earlier teaser video and the fact that the company had applied for trademark protection for the Battito name. The manufacturer has now officially confirmed the name Cuorerosso.

The choice of name itself provides little technical information, but says much about Alfa Romeo’s current strategy. In Europe’s premium car market, the marque needs to differentiate itself from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi at a time when electrification is making powertrains increasingly similar. Alfa Romeo is therefore betting, at least in its communications, on what rivals find harder to replicate with numbers: Italian design and a driver-focused character.

Whether Cuorerosso turns that promise into technology will become clear in Paris.

Full debut takes place on 12 October

Cuorerosso will debut at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October 2026. Alfa Romeo’s press conference begins at 10:55am CEST, and the concept car will remain in Hall 4 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles until 18 October.

Stellantis is making a strong showing in Paris overall. Across eight brands, the group is bringing nine concept cars and more than 60 vehicles to the show, occupying more than 5,000m² of exhibition space. Alongside Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Lancia, Leapmotor, Opel and Peugeot will also present news.
