MINI Countryman Untamed gets increased ground clearance and all-terrain tyres
1/120
MINI has added the Untamed Edition to the Countryman range, bringing genuine technical changes alongside a more rugged look. The electric Countryman SE gets suspension raised by 15 mm, all-terrain tyres and recalibrated chassis control systems.
Untamed is more than a styling package
The Countryman SE Untamed gets suspension raised by 15 mm. Combined with larger-diameter tyres, this increases ground clearance by approximately 19 mm in total.
MINI offers Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres for the S and SE versions, improving grip on gravel and loose surfaces. The manufacturer has also recalibrated the ABS, stability control and steering systems to suit these tyres.
The all-wheel-drive Countryman SE ALL4 uses two electric motors, develops 230 kW and 494 Nm, and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Untamed adds no extra power; the changes focus on the chassis and off-road capability.
European versions differ
In Europe, the Untamed Edition does not automatically come with raised suspension. The 15 mm lift applies primarily to the electric SE version, while all-terrain tyres are optional.
Untamed also gets special 19-inch wheels, more rugged protective trim, new body colours and a more durable interior. An Autohome roof tent is also available as an option.
This is not a full-fledged off-roader, as the Countryman retains its unibody construction and crossover-style chassis layout. Nevertheless, greater ground clearance, all-wheel drive and more suitable tyres make it more capable than the standard Countryman on gravel roads and forest tracks.
