BMW iX3 M60 raises electric SUV power to 450 kW
1/68
BMW has unveiled the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful version of its Neue Klasse SUV to date. The dual-motor model produces 450 kW and 875 Nm and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
More power than a Maybach
The iX3 M60 xDrive uses one electric motor on each axle and has all-wheel drive. At 450 kW, the electric BMW outpowers, for example, the 430 kW Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, although the two cars have entirely different purposes and powertrains.
The Maybach's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 800 Nm and takes the SL from 0–100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The BMW offers 875 Nm and completes the same sprint 0.2 seconds faster.
Up to 754 km of range
The M60 uses BMW's sixth-generation electric drive system, an 800 V electrical architecture and a battery with cylindrical cells. WLTP range reaches 754 km.
Maximum DC charging power is 400 kW. This keeps the M60 close to the more mainstream iX3 versions in terms of everyday usability, although its higher power output and sportier chassis increase energy consumption.
Genuine M Performance chassis upgrades
The iX3 M60 offers more than just a more powerful powertrain. Standard equipment includes adaptive M suspension, variable-ratio sport steering, an electronically controlled M Sport differential and M Sport brakes.
The Heart of Joy control computer and M Dynamic Performance Control integrate powertrain and chassis control, distributing torque between the axles and wheels according to driving conditions.
BMW also adds steering-wheel paddles that allow the driver to adjust the electric drive system's response. These do not change gears, but allow the driver to adjust the character of the traction.
Orders open in January 2027
BMW will begin accepting orders for the iX3 M60 xDrive in late January 2027. Production will start in the spring at the Debrecen plant in Hungary.
In the European market, the M60 sits squarely in the fast premium electric SUV class. An output of 450 kW is no longer exceptional in this segment, but the combination of a 754 km WLTP range and 400 kW charging makes BMW's package technically strong.
