Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Perla Nera forgoes paint to reveal bare carbon fibre

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the 33 Stradale Perla Nera at its Arese museum, the only one of 33 examples with an entire body that leaves matte carbon fibre exposed. It is not a new special edition but a unique car created for one customer, with the carbon fibre’s own structure shaping its appearance rather than black paint.
According to Alfa Romeo’s official information of 28 September, the car’s owner personally chose and registered the name “Perla Nera”, or Black Pearl. The carbon fibre in the body panels was laid by hand in moulds, with the fibres arranged in a pattern that emphasises the car’s symmetry and the shape of its surfaces. The layout begins on the bonnet and continues over the roof to the rear.
Black is not a colour here
Perla Nera’s defining feature is that Alfa did not conceal the carbon fibre beneath a clear coat. The matte finish leaves the composite material’s structure visible, while the wheels are also black. The exterior model badges have been removed, leaving only the Alfa Romeo emblems.
The cabin follows the same approach. Carbon fibre is complemented by black Alcantara, while the driver’s seat was redesigned around the specific owner’s body. The headrests were also modified, the owner’s initials were engraved on Alfa’s drive-mode selector, and the car comes with a numbered Alcantara-covered luggage set.
This clearly shows what the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale project is actually selling. All 33 cars sold out within just a few weeks, and Bottega Alfa Romeo involved buyers in designing their cars before production began. The cars are assembled by hand by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera.
Technical specification unchanged
Perla Nera receives no additional power. The mid-mounted 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 produces more than 463 kW, with power sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Alfa claims a 0-100 km/h time of under three seconds and a top speed of 333 km/h. The central section of the load-bearing structure is a carbon-fibre monocoque, around which the car uses an aluminium H-frame.
There are already more powerful supercars in Europe. However, the 33 Stradale was not created to top the power charts of Ferrari and Lamborghini. Its strength lies in its 33-car production run and personalisation at almost coachbuilder level. Perla Nera takes that logic to the extreme, as the construction material itself becomes the design.
The car will remain on display at the Alfa Romeo museum in Arese until 18 October 2026, after which it will be delivered to its owner.
