OMODA 4 debuts in Paris with futuristic design aimed primarily at younger buyers

Chinese carmaker OMODA unveiled its new OMODA 4 compact SUV at the Paris Motor Show, ahead of its market launch in 2027. With sharp body lines, a gaming-inspired interior and a new-generation hybrid powertrain, the model will compete for buyers in one of Europe’s most competitive vehicle segments.
Design inspired by video games
The OMODA 4 made its public debut at this year’s Beijing Motor Show, but Paris marked the first time the manufacturer presented the car to visitors at a European motor show.
The model’s exterior follows the “Cyber Mecha” design language, characterised by sharp angles, geometric body surfaces and futuristic lighting signatures. OMODA aims to stand out from conventional compact SUVs and appeal primarily to younger buyers.
The interior follows the same theme. The focus is on a cockpit inspired by spacecraft and video games, with the Super Intelligent Cockpit set to be its most significant new feature.
A full hybrid will join the range
In Beijing, OMODA displayed the new model with the SHS-H full-hybrid powertrain, which combines a petrol engine with an electric drivetrain.
The manufacturer has yet to disclose the OMODA 4’s engine output, battery capacity, fuel consumption or acceleration figures. There are also no confirmed details on the car’s dimensions or price.
In the UK, the model will complement the larger OMODA 5. Its rivals in the compact SUV segment will include the Renault Captur, Toyota Yaris Cross and Hyundai Kona.
The launch of the OMODA 4 shows that Chinese manufacturers are no longer focusing solely on low prices in Europe. Distinctive design, the digital user experience and electrified powertrains are becoming increasingly important. Its success, however, will depend less on its futuristic appearance than on its price and the hybrid powertrain’s real-world efficiency. Europe’s compact SUV segment already has plenty of well-equipped rivals, so the newcomer must offer buyers clear added value.
